I was born and raised on a farm neat Bugtussle,
in Fannin County, the ninth child in a family of twelve children.
I attended school at Bartley-Woods and Windom, graduating from Windom in
1956. My favorite subjects in school were typing and shorthand and
my ambition was to work as a secretary.
After working for two years in Dallas, I married Jim Milton while he was
home on leave from the Army. We lived in Denver Colorado for two
years where he was stationed at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. |
|
Our son, Gary Paul, was born there. Jim was discharged from
the Army in 1960 and we moved back to Texas.
We moved to Sherman in 1961 and began attending
Dewey Avenue Church of Christ when it opened in 1964. I became a
Christian soon after, being baptized by Robert Rochelle, first minister
of Dewey. I did volunteer work in the church office, which
eventually led to the secretarial job in 1966. I have been
privileged and blessed to work with a wonderful family of Christians for
all these years.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, collecting
recipes and cooking. I love being with my two grandchildren, Amme
and Tyler, and especially enjoy reunions with families, sisters, and
school friends.
