Parkview Church of Christ presents: Vacation Bible School 2005 "Lights! Camera! Action!"

Our main goal with this ‘movie themed’ VBS is to help the children realize that the Bible can be used as a script that guides us through life. An actor in a movie does exactly what the script says to do. If it says ‘exit stage right,’ the actor does so. Although we are not actors in real life, we should obey the Word and do as it says, much like actors do with their script.

During this week, we will be learning how to be active for the Lord. God called upon many people in the Bible to carry out His Will, and although some hesitated at first, we can learn from their actions. These people were active in teaching, serving and leading in the name of the Lord. We will use the examples they set to learn how we can hear God’s call and be active for Him.

Monday, July 18: Moses was called by God to lead the Israelites out of captivity from Egypt. God appeared to him in the form of a burning bush and although Moses was afraid, he realized he could not turn down God's call to action.

Tuesday, July 19: David, a teenage shepherd boy, was called by God to serve in the Israeli army. He encountered a warrior named Goliath that stood at a towering 9 feet 9 inches. With a sling, a stone and the glory of God, David defeated Goliath.

Wednesday, July 20: Jonah spent 3 days and 3 nights inside the belly of a fish because he did not answer the calling of God. He was told to go to Nineveh and teach against its sin. Instead, Jonah tried to hide from God and learned that God wants obedience and mercy.

Thursday, July 21: Jesus Christ walked this earth to teach and save the lost but some people did not like that. Thinking they could not end his teaching, they had Jesus killed; but God had other plans. Jesus defeated death and fulfilled the prophesy. We now can be saved from our sins because of God's gift of salvation.
