Friday Finale - July 25th

In the age of piracy, these sea-lovers lived by a code that dictated how they were to conduct themselves day-to-day. Though these codes were more like guidelines, they were kept in a sacred book and were to be taken seriously.

We have been given a book of codes dictating how we are to conduct ourselves day-to-day as well. As opposed to the code of piracy, these are not guidelines, but commands, and were given by God himself.

Each evening, the swashbuckling crew of "The Believer" will be searching for a few of these codes that God has set for us, and learning how to apply them to our lives. Here's you a peak at what the crew will be looking for:

Monday, July 21: Honor yer Father and Mother
Ephesians 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise), SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.

Tuesday, July 22: Do Unto Others
Matthew 7:12

In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Wednesday, July 23: Love yer Enemies
Luke 6:27-36

But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.  If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Thursday, July 24: Love the Lord yer God
Matthew 22:37-40

And He said to him, 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.
